The Owen D. Young Central School has been chosen a CFES Brilliant Pathways School of Distinction for its outstanding achievements during the 2023-2024 school year. CFES Brilliant Pathways is a nonprofit helping students from underserved schools achieve academic and career success.

This prestigious recognition emphasizes ODY's commitment to developing and implementing an exemplary plan for its CFES Scholars, while engaging the entire school community through a 10-Point College & Career Readiness Plan.

ODY has earned this prestigious recognition for a second consecutive year—and third time overall.

“We are fortunate to have CFES Brilliant Pathways as a partner in meeting the needs of our students and ensuring they are college and career ready,” said school counselor Alicia Soper.

The competitive award acknowledges the development and execution of a highly effective, year-long plan available to the entire student body. According to CFES, 90 percent of students who enter the program from partnering rural and urban schools go on to college.

To become a School of Distinction, a school must fulfill a meticulous and varied set of criteria. These include implementing cutting-edge, schoolwide programs that advance college and career readiness.

“We couldn't have achieved this without the hard work of our students who consistently mentor and work towards achieving the CFES Essential Skills,” said Principal Christine Tucker. “We are looking forward to another great year!”
