Author Stacey DeLaney visited ODY to share her love of reading with students in kindergarten through grade 6.
The author read the latest story in her series of books that feature her rescue dog, LayLa, as the main character. Delaney credits LayLa, with being a devoted companion who “rescued” her owners by filling them with great love and joy.
Mrs. Delaney retired from her career as a teacher and administrator before becoming an author of children’s books. As a former teacher for the deaf, she is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). On the day of her visit, Mrs. Delaney taught ODY students a few ASL signs.
